Paul Sagues, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Paul is a seasoned veteran with a distinguished career in the process control business. Paul is a co-founder of Berkeley Process Control, a company that generated more than $250 million in sales in the high precision motion and machine control business. Paul co-authored the textbook Microprocessors for Measurement and Control (Osborne/McGraw-Hill) with Professor David M. Auslander of the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Sagues has more than one hundred patents in the field of microprocessor based control systems. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stanford University and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Sagues is a Registered Professional Engineer in California.
Mauritz Botha, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Mauritz was the co-founder and CTO of Lontech and Sperolon, where he was the architect for intelligent residential demand side systems and the SL2000 environmental sensing system that is widely deployed in mines in South Africa. Mauritz worked as a product manager for Coactive Networks where he was part of the team that oversaw the move to large scale production of home gateway systems for a large Swedish utility. He was the co-founder and CTO of IMSI-Design where he was responsible for the TurboCAD range of products and helped establish TurboCAD as the dominant CAD application in retail in the US. Mauritz was Chairman of the Board of the Open Design Alliance, an entity providing libraries for open exchange of geometry between various popular CAD platforms. He holds a Bachelor in Electronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, an Hons. Bachelor of Computer Engineering from the University of Pretoria and a Masters of Electrical Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Potchefstroom. He also holds a patent on a machine vision system for industrial control and a number of patents pending associated with his work at XiO.
Malcolm Thompson, Chief Financial Officer
Mal brings a diverse set of skills to bear at XiO. After graduating from Harvard Business School, he spent the next dozen years working in finance as both an investment banker at Harris Williams and Co. and MHT Partners, and a principal investor at La Jolla Cove Investors. Mal worked across a wide range of industries in those roles, with particular focus on business and information systems, consumer products, materials and mining, and biotechnology. Prior to business school, Mal spent nine years in the Army as an Airborne Infantry officer and Green Beret, with multiple combat tours overseas. A graduate of the United States Military Academy with a B.S. in Engineering Physics, he lives in Marin with his wife, two daughters, and son. In his free time, Mal can be found watching New England’s sports teams, reading (mostly history), picking up after children, or exercising.
Kevin Liscovitz, Chief Operating Officer
Kevin joined XiO in 2015 to expand and streamline design and delivery of reliable Cloud SCADA® Control Systems. Prior to joining XiO, Kevin served as a Captain in the U.S. Army where he held various leadership positions in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a graduate of U.S. Army Ranger School. Kevin holds a BS in Industrial Technology from Eastern Illinois University.
Peter Moy, VP of Engineering
Peter is an accomplished automation and control system expert. He was Director of Engineering at Berkeley Process Control (BPC), where he was responsible for managing software, electronics, mechanical design, product development and systems engineering. Peter was involved in the development of several generations of the multi-axis servo motor machine controller that was the central element of BPC’s products. He oversaw system development for projects in automated welding, semiconductor wafer handling, nuclear vessel inspection, and nuclear spent fuel canister welding. Peter led the development of Soft-I/O, an innovative product that implements configurable I/O and is at the core of XiO’s offering. Peter has a BSE in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mark Puckett, VP of Product Development
Mark is an experienced water system product and project manager who brings his more than ten years of experience to head up the rapidly growing XiO production operation surrounding both the innovative Soft-I/O technology and the unique XiO Cloud SCADA® control system. Mark began his career in software systems but then moved into the irrigation business, commercial, municipal and agricultural, spending nearly ten years serving the delivery of water to the customer. Now, Mark turns his focus to serving the water production side of the equation. Mark is overseeing the scaling of XiO’s business that is ramping at an explosive rate. Mark earned an A.B. from Harvard University.
