Pumping More Water For Less Money

The following article was published in the winter edition of the California Water Journal from the California Rural Water Association.

Roughly 20% of the electricity in California is used to pump water. One fifth. Given that California is the fifth largest economy in the world, this number, measured in GWh or Billion watt hours, represents real money. Reducing these costs results in direct savings of money, electricity and related emissions.
